Links
Dedicated to things not necessarily directly about being gay.
I have, after all, a large section of other interests in life.
At the moment it is fairly bare - not because I have few interests!
It's because I'm trying to get the basic thrust of these pages back up
and running. Once I have that complete I'll be able to add more
links below.
Linux
Linux is the free Unix operating sytem that is taking the world by storm.
- The Linux
Organisation Homepage: A good set of links to many of the
Linux projects and supporters around the world.
- Slashdot:
One of the best, most up-to-date technology news and links pages
on the internet. Not just Linux related, but Linux is definately
a popular theme!
Computer Companies
Apart from being a total Open Source believer, I do still like a few computer
companies out there. Among them are:
- Sun Microsystems
manufactures some of the best servers on the planet, and while they're
still not getting completely behind Open Source, Linux et al they are
making some inroads. Besides, they enjoy beating up on Microsoft when
they get a chance so they have to be OK!
- Transmeta
have introduced a revolutionary CPU called Crusoe. It seems
very interesting, and I can't wait to see a working PC based on it.
- Apple
have made a huge comeback since bringing Steve Jobs back to the helm.
They have revolutionised the computer industry as well, transforming
computers to being something that goes into a computer room or out of
the way to being an appliance that you'd be happy to have in your
lounge-room.
News Services
- ABC
Online News Services is updated very regularly based on TV and
Radio broadcasts made by Australia's National Broadcaster. If you want
to find out about something important going on or just keep in track
with the news, you'll want to go here from time to time each day.
- Sydney Morning
Herald Online is the online version of the 6 day per week
newspaper. The SMH is one of the few papers left in Australia that
shows any sign of journalistic independance.
- BBC News online
is comparable to the quality of information offered by ABC Online but
with the quantity of that offered by CNN. Worthwhile for a visit.
Other Links
- Cluetrain is
a site for an upcoming book about the power of the internet to change
society and change commercialism. Given my dislike for economic rationalism, this
site has really hit a chord with me.
