people with disabilities, their carers, volunteers, students and professionals.
eg:
Brochures in a number of languages
Books, audios and videos to borrow or purchase
Providing a drop-in centre and library room for individuals
Supporting existing Stroke Recovery groups and helping start new ones
Supporting self help groups for Amputees, Post-Polio, Parkinsons
sufferers, Pagets Disease etc
Advocating on behalf of people with disabilities and their carers,
especially those with speech difficulties
Providing a bi-monthly newsletter with health related updates and items
of interest to disabled people and their carers
Organising seminars and workshops
Liaising with service providers to identify and fill the gaps in
existing services
Ensuring that the needs of minority groups regardless of race, ethnicity
or class are catered for
We can provide a direct service to people in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie
and the Coalfields and a telephone and mail service to people in other areas
VOLUNTEERS
Education
programmes and workshops are offered to volunteers. New Volunteers are very
welcome.
Stroke And
Disability Information (Hunter) Inc. is jointly funded by State and
Commonwealth Governments under the Department of Ageing Disability and Home
Care (DAD&HC).
We are
located in the
Charlestown Multi-Purpose Centre

Charlestown
There is a
telephone answering service when the office is unattended.
The building is wheelchair accessible and there is
ample parking.
Membership of Stroke And
Disability Information (Hunter) Inc. is available to clients carers family
allied health professionals and those wishing to support us.
Annual subscription is due
before the 30th August

Newsletters $10.00 per year
