Steel City Classic !!

The Pacific Ocean really showed how it got its name on the Saturday with off shore winds and small surf, mind you, its amazing how things can change overnight !!  On Sunday "the Cliff" looked like a different beach all together...

on shore winds and 4 - 5  foot washing machine style surf :)

That of course didnt stop the finalists getting out there and showing off their stuff !! Mark Hancock won the 9 foot open beating Jye Byrnes, Matt Kay, Dave English, Jess Jerum and Craig Harvey with a show of fittness that amazed all on the beach, after catching the wave of the day he battled the surf with what must have been a 9 minute paddle out that saw him dragged half way to Newcastle beach, once out the back  he didnt bother to stop paddling, or take a break, he jumped on the next  wave and rode it to the beach sealing victory and winning a trip for two to Bali from major sponsors Garuda Airlines .
