Features

My works encompass many features, 

different styles and mediums. A prominent 

feature in many of my works is intricate 

and illustrative detail with 

sensitive lines and tones.  

With some of the samples shown 

on this site for instance the painting titled
'Caress of Mist of Enchanted Times'

is a mix of imaginary and historical 

scenery enhanced by morning mist. I have 

tried to capture the feeling of viewing the 

outskirts of an open forest 

from an era long ago.

 Hints of cool shadow hues 

exaggerated give the painting a haunting 

quality,  similar to a mythical or storybook 

effect. Although I do not wish to imitate 

storybook images. I hope my works will 

always have unique qualities about them.

This work was created in oil paints. 

Layers of transparent paint brushwork

 have helped to highlight the mist. This is 

the first in the series 'Mythical Enchantment'

'Tranquillity' an oil painting from the 

Water Scenes series takes on a different 

style expressing freshness, vivid colours on 

a fine afternoon. I have attempted to 

express peace and calm. The scene 

is of Lake Macquarie at a place 

called Valentine.

What these two paintings have in common 

apart from the medium is that they are 

capturing a moment in time. Whilst they 

are different eras, feelings of onlooking 

a scene: a place taken from an experience, 

period or an interlude of time are 

expressed in these paintings.

Another in the water series

'A Secluded Afternoon' attempts to 

capture the same feelings.  Although 

this is a mixed medium: water soluble 

pencil, pastel, crayon and gouache paints. 

Using a style I call 'linear  wash 

techniques'.   Sweeping skies and 

illustrative effects are what I tried 

to create in this work of art.  This scene 

is at Croudace Bay of Lake 

Macquarie, NSW Australia also.
